The Painting Process

If we’re painting new doors and trim, we’ll usually paint those before we install them. However, if we’re painting things that are already assembled, we’ll go through a process similar to this:
  1. Clean the surfaces to make sure they’re free of dust and dirt that will make the paint not stick.
  2. Scrape and sand old, loose paint off.
  3. Fill in any holes or imperfections to make the surface totally smooth.
  4. Apply a primer to provide a sealing coat as well as create a surface prime for the paint to stick to.
  5. Apply the main coat of paint.
  6. Repeat as many coats as necessary to get the perfect finish.
